The S’ENGAGE Program for Young Canadians

The Canadian Senate offers educators a way to develop civic engagement and political participation in young Canadians. Through the S’ENGAGE program, any Canadian teacher, principal or student can make a request for a Senator to come to their classroom or to an event and inform young Canadians on how Parliament works and the role of the Senate. Why a senator? Senators play a crucial role in Parliament. They make the Red Chamber home to vigorous debates, and long-range investigations on issues often overlooked by the House of Commons. They review every bill before it becomes law, and can introduce their own bills. School classes can also visit the Senate as part of the S’ENGAGE program.
