A dangerous new threat is targeting women and gender-diverse people across Canada by silencing voices, fueling online harassment, and distorting public opinion. Gendered disinformation is a calculated form of digital manipulation that exploits gender stereotypes and AI-generated content to attack individuals. More than misinformation, these campaigns deliberately spread false narratives, driving malicious coordinated attacks designed to harm and discredit. As AI tools become more advanced and accessible, the severity of the issue is rapidly escalating, making digital education more essential than ever. Actua has launched an urgent set of tools to raise awareness about this dangerous new wave of online abuse. In partnership with the Community Safety Knowledge Alliance and Sapper Labs Group, Actua is equipping youth, families, and educators with a parental toolkit, youth toolkit, and educator guide. These resources break down real-world examples of gendered disinformation and provide guidance on how to counter it effectively. Visit: actua.ca to access the resources.
