Nature Labs: A Free High School Resource

by

Nature Labs: A Free High School Resource Nature Labs is a free, non-profit virtual textbook for high school students in Science, Social Studies, English, Careers and Art—fully aligned with curriculum standards and enriched with media and interactive activities. Using nature as a powerful metaphor, it connects classroom learning to real-world issues and inspiring Canadian experts—from former prime ministers to celebrated chefs—encouraging students to think critically and act creatively. Imagine the wonder of a field trip to the Rocky Mountains or Parliament Hill brought to life in every high school classroom and enhanced by cross-disciplinary master classes delivered by experts and innovators. Now imagine an immersive virtual experience that is relatable and responsive to the world where students live, with information being updated in real-time. All of this? It’s brought together with balanced storytelling to create the kind of multimedia content needed to spark a passion for learning. Each course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the learning concepts mandated by provincial and territorial curricula, while also giving students the opportunity to test and apply their knowledge. Additionally, students can cultivate a diverse range of tangible and intangible skills, including critical thinking, problem solving, decision-making, effective communication, empathy and resiliency. Nature Labs doesn’t tell students what to think, and ensures that every student can see their perspective reflected and challenged across the platform.
