MediaSmarts, Canada’s centre for digital media literacy, is looking for grade 7 to 12 teachers to test the new resource Know it or Not? Increasing resiliency to health and science misinformation with their students. The free resource was created by MediaSmarts and Digital Public Square to help students become more resilient to misinformation and common misconceptions related to public health. It includes two original lesson plans, one for grades 7 to 9 and one for grades 9 to 12, professional development support, and home-school connection material. Like all MediaSmarts resources, it has been created to meet curriculum expectations in each province and territory.
The in-class time commitment will be no more than three hours for completing either of the lessons and the deadline for testing and evaluation is May 31, 2022.
Teachers will receive a $50 Indigo gift card for their participation. MediaSmarts is also looking for Teacher Champions to help test resources like these and be the first to give feedback on their new materials.
If you’d like to sign up to test Know it or Not? or become a Teacher Champion, please contact Rebecca Boucher at rboucher@mediasmarts.ca.
