Pacific Edge Publishing Offers FREE Resources for Homeschoolers, Parents, and Educators

Pacific Edge Publishing has been creating high-quality teaching resources for 25 years. These resources have been designed to address learning outcomes mandated by Canadian provincial Ministries of Education. Many were authored by teachers who drew from their experiences in the classroom to meet the needs of their students. Many are cross-curricular units, developing skills in subjects such as Reading, Writing, Science, Social Studies and the Arts in one package. Designed for busy teachers to easily implement in their classrooms, they will provide homeschooling parents with time-tested, reliable materials to help your children continue to develop learning skills. Full descriptions, including Grade Level suitability, are provided for each resource.

As many parents are now homeschooling their children and educators are working more from home or online due to the COVID-19 virus, Pacific Edge Publishing is offering many resources for FREE, available to download, including lesson plans, activity books, activity sheets, reading guides, and more! The Nature Detective Series

Written by award-winning BC author, Diane Swanson, the tells the stories of groups of adventurous nature detectives as they discover the life in five ecosystems: forest, seashore, wetland, grassland and river. These fact-filled books provide primary teachers with a language-based resource from which Science and Language Arts can be extended across the curriculum.

Each book introduces children to one of five fascinating ecosystems. The books show how plants and animals interact and adapt themselves to specific ecosystems. They show how living things depend on non-living things, such as water, light, and soil. The books also present examples of fossil life, Indigenous peoples’ uses of elements from specific ecosystems, such as plants, and the ways people harm — and help — ecosystems. By the end of each book, children have a new appreciation for an important ecosystem.

is a set of five books and five teacher’s guides designed to address the grades 2 to 4 learning standards in the BC Science curriculum. Recently revised and updated!
