National Aboriginal Day provides young students with a short history of this special day of celebration. As well, the book explains some of the traditions and customs that are practised on that day. With colourful photographs to support the text, this book should be accessible to fluent readers by mid to late grade two and could be read aloud to younger students.
Classroom Connections: A study of communities, families, celebrations and seasons are just a few of the many topics that would be well supported by the use of this book. Primarily a source of information about National Aboriginal Day, this little text would be a natural fit for any class or school-wide activities planned for June 21.
