This is an excellent resource that is quick to read and easy to implement in middle or high school classrooms. The first sixty pages include all the explanations, instructions and suggestions you’ll need to get your students reading aloud, writing scripts and staging productions. The emphasis on multi-subject uses for Reader’s Theatre and examples on how to connect beyond literature are just the beginning—the sky’s the limit, according to Dixon. A final chapter focussing on four different methods of evaluation will also be helpful for teachers trying to include differentiated instruction and assessment. This resource assists teachers in facilitating learning, as students will guide themselves and each other through improving reading aloud. Included are 72 pages of reproducible scripts (17 in total!) as well as ten pages of reproducible evaluation masters. Readers Theatre is a valuable addition to any teacher’s collection of resources.
